Sunset OverDrive was a day one for me. I wanted to support this game by Insomniac because it pays homage to many different games of a bygone era. It's funny how Playstation fans say that Xbox gamers are not the type of players who play this game. That's wrong. In-fact this game is more of the Sega/Nintendo fan. The Playstation started out with 3D and Polygon focused titles. Insomniac yes has made they're name with games like Spyro etc. I respect the fact that Insomniac branched ou...
Look, I get the idea of upgrading, but console gaming is not the terrain for it. Let's take a step back, and think about the last generation. Both the Xbox 360, and the PS3 lasted for ten years. The Xbox 360 will stop being produced relatively soon. Have folks payed attention that neither console in that time span ever hit $100? I'm not talking about featureless models. I mean full on featured console with big HDD's, Online play, etc.
I don't respond to you in comments. No disrespect, but you tend to be slow on the uptick. Have you seen the rumored specs for the PS4 Neo? Even if they are not true, the current PS4 is not strong enough to do VR at the quality level that can grow the tech over the next 3 years. So in effect Sony is mulling the idea, and pushing forward as if the potential upgrade console is a new launch. Do you follow or do you need an infograph to navigate what's being stated?
Ok, so let's get a couple things out the way. The Crackdown beta you were talking about, that happens this summer. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but the Xbox One is a Win10 thing. With Hololens you can actually with a developers unit play Xbox One games using it as a peripheral device. So don't for one second believe it's a 2018 thing. Hololens is more of a developer thing. What developers create for it will push it forward. Which is happening today...Like right now. E...
You'd actually be right if Halo and Forza were the only games the Xbox One has had since launch. From Ori, to Quantum Break Microsoft has done a fantastic job with exclusive games and third party timed releases. E3 is going to be fantastic for new IP, and no not every game is going to PC. In fact, it's going to be the other way around. Like I said come holidays and 2017 it is going to be very interesting. Microsoft has shown a strong library especially when you talk about free BC supp...
Everyone is putting on a brave face saying that this is ok. Sony is just adding more to the console so it can properly do VR because it has the weakest set up compared to the other VR players. The other side is they don't want to give up too much ground to the Nintendo NX. Sony is not interested in hurting their success, but they know they need a differentiation to grow their gaming business. So "Neo" is being positioned for VR, and it will be competitively priced treating this ...
Here's the issue that everyone who mentions PSVR and PS4 Neo must keep in mind. These are console launches, and they have to sell. What do they have for their current base of PS4 owners? Many developers and publishers like the idea, but think it's too soon, and they are worried. Especially the big boys. The Xbox One won't have that problem. If you judge by how many people are in the Gears of War 4 beta loving it. I'd be cautious about putting a hardware launch against a proven...
The Nintendo NX is a premium build. Nintendo isn't slouching at all, but they are being smart and efficient. What's important for them is to make sure 3rd party are happy alongside their first party games. They plan on being more competitive, and from the grapevine they are doing all the right things. Fun times ahead folks..
The Xbox One E3 is going to be killer. In fact Microsoft has had the best E3's of this generation. Phil got on stage and announced the console will be getting games, and he delivered. Last year both E3 and Gamescom were spectacular. We got to see Crackdown, Hololens, Scalebound, Gears of War 4, and BC.
2016 E3 I expect to see more cloud gaming with Crackdown 3 which is going to be a game changer from what I'm hearing. Folks are glad that all the talk is about VR, be...
Let's be honest. The PS4 is winning on brand loyalty. If one is to say that it's because of the games that would be an outright lie. In fact if you were to look at most of the PS4 library of games they are mainly 3rd party and indie titles. In fact the PS4 looks more like the Xbox 360. For more three years all we heard, and as journalists talked about was how Microsoft next Xbox console couldn't rely on 3rd party to win. Yet behold the PS4's existence is literally thriving on ...
The point is simple. The PlayStation Move and Camera failed for worse than the Kinect did. For instance the Xbox 360 Kinect sold over 20 million units. I highly doubt the Move and PS Camera sold that much combined.
Are both viable now that PSVR is here? Yes. Will people interested in PSVR need both? Yes. Will they become popular if PSVR sells? Yes.
Dead in the water technology is getting life again. I'm pretty sure if VR does become popular then it would ...
Len you and your team are smart people. I enjoy what you guys do, and I respect your perspective.
At the same time there is a clear reason why the Playstation 4 is ahead. It's not about the games, it's not about the technology. It's about defining the space they are in. Sony has done a far better job of making sure that the console space they are in is a clear value proposition for that consumer. Not confusing it. Microsoft has not made the kind of impact in the c...
Let's go with your argument or point of view for a second.
Since Microsoft no longer views sales as a way to measure success of a console, but rather those who are using their platform on a service like Xbox Live.
How many base consoles do you think Microsoft can push on launch?
5 million? 10 million? 20 million? Wheres the threshold decides that an upgrade makes sense to do at the right time? How many mid gen do they launch?
Look Len, I'm a huge proponent of what Microsoft has done in the gaming space. My comment history should be enough to let you know I tend to lean my arguments in showing Microsoft's efforts when discussing gaming. So take this comment from someone who truly understands gaming across the board.
In theory the things Microsoft are doing is not wrong. Preserving the Windows brand across devices makes sense. As a console, again as a console. This move does not. <...
